Liberal formations from the EU have launched a major debate on Europe's priorities ahead of the next European elections. The future of Europe - more versatile, more functioning, and closer to the people - is the main topic of the ALDE Party Congress 2022. The event kicked-off today in Dublin and is co-chaired by Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF)/Renew Europe MEP Ilhan Kucuk.
The MRF is represented at the forum by its leader Mustafa Karadayi and a delegation of the Movement, comprising party deputy chairman Stanislav Anastasov, MRF/Renew Europe MEPs Iskra Mihailova and Atidje Veli, MRF Central Operative Bureau (COB) member and former MEP Filiz Hyusmenova, MRF parliamentary group deputy chairman Hamid Hamid and assistant professor Dzhevdet Chakarov – MP and member of the COB. This is the first ALDE top-level meeting to be held in person after the pandemic restrictions.
On the first day of the congress, Mustafa Karadayi and the MRF delegation took part in a meeting of the Balkan Liberal Network LIBSEEN. The event was a debate on the EU enlargement to 2029 and the participants passed a declaration in support of the European integration of the Western Balkans.
The MRF delegation later attended a meeting of the ALDE Council. The session voted to allow the party of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy "Servant of the People" to become a member of ALDE. Congressional delegates are expected to confirm the membership tomorrow.
Mustafa Karadayi and the MRF delegation held various bilateral meetings with counterparts from European states.
The debates focused on the common desire for Europe to speak with one voice on all matters of politics. The War in Ukraine and the achievement of peace through the power of diplomacy were also at the center of bilateral talks.
