We have filed with the National Assembly a draft decision to approve the proposal of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU, which delivers a framework for the negotiations of North Macedonia and Albania for EU membership.
This was announced by the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Mustafa Karadayi at a news briefing in parliament, shortly after the members of parliament approved a non-confidence vote and toppled the government of prime minister Kiril Petkov.
"The ministers, whom we just voted out, did nothing to move things ahead. They tried to hinder the process by constantly declaring one thing in Brussels and the opposite in Bulgaria," Karadayi said.
The European future of the Balkan countries must be an indisputable priority for Bulgaria. During the French Presidency of the EU, a relatively new stage was reached in our efforts to embrace the countries of the Western Balkans. As far as we are concerned, we have made the necessary step to file a proposal to the National Assembly and make sure it acts on it, Karadayi told the reporters at the news briefing.
"All those speculations that we will do nothing and wait for the National Assembly to make a decision without a submitted proposal are nothing more than another mimicry of a retreating government," the MRF leader said.
