Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) chairman Mustafa Karadai personally brought to Turkey donations collected by the Movement in support of the tens of thousands of families of those who died in the devastating earthquake in Turkey and the hundreds of thousands of injured and homeless people. Karadayi went with one of the aid trucks that left for Edirne today from the main logistics center of the Movement's large-scale donation campaign – the city of Haskovo.
First, Karadyai visited Haskovo to check on the spot the organisation of sorting and transporting the donations. The leader of the MRF participated in loading one of the trucks. Up until now, the MRF has sent 34 trucks, dozens of minibuses, and cars with donations to the people in need in our southern neighbouring country of Turkey.
In Edirne, Karadayi met with the acting regional governor of the city Sidki Zihin, the deputy regional governor Zafer Karamehmedoglu, the head of the regional crisis headquarters Selim Ak and the regional chairman of the AK party Belgin Iba.
Karadayi expressed his and all the MRF members’ and sympathisers’ condolences to the relatives of those who died in the horrific tragedy. He collected information on the spot about what the hundreds of thousands of people in distress need.
MRF issued a new appeal for donations. Tens of thousands of families are currently homeless. Therefore, Turkey urgently needs tents, sleeping bags, electric and gas stoves, and blankets. This is what the injured people need the most, the Movement said, urging people to donate.
Donations are sent every hour to the MRF structures throughout the country.
The eighth lorry truck from Kardzhali left today for Edirne, announced the mayor Dr. Eng. Hassan Aziz. He stipulated that part of the collected aid will be sent to Syria, which also suffered from the devastating earthquakes.
Two trucks with food products, blankets and heating devices left today from the regional structure of the MRF in Shumen directly for Edirne.
The Movement sent three trucks and 4 large buses to Stara Zagora. We managed to load a lot of clothes, food products, hygiene items, over 400 blankets and other supplies and many more types of aid - all donations from people to people. We are also in the process of organising the donations in Nikolaevo and Radnevo, the MRF branch in Stara Zagora said. The deputy chairman of MRF Halil Letifov took part in the organisation.
And the first truck with blankets, clothes, baby food and diapers, water and heating devices, children’s beds, canned goods and many other essential products from the residents of the whole region left Ruse for Edirne.
