The country’s current administration is unable to solve problems. They are unable to overcome crises. Instead, they constantly create new crises. Therefore, we have decided from here, from Pristoe, to map out and point to Bulgaria’s right path, which is to have a worthy, reliable, resolute Euro-Atlantic government that takes care of businesses and the people, at this moment of emergency. This is what the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Mustafa Karadayi told the huge crowd gathered in the village of Pristoe in northeastern Bulgaria, where the so-called “May events” (marking the struggle of Bulgarian Turks against the communist regime’s decision to change their names and identity 33 years ago). The MRF marked the anniversary with a traditional remembrance rally and honored the memory of the pioneers of democracy who fell victim to the violent "revival process" (as it was called by the communist authorities).
Pristoe was the place where people organized themselves to embark on a struggle to preserve their names, their faith, honor, and dignity. This was a struggle that hastened the fall of the communist regime in Bulgaria. The events helped us bring freedom and democracy to our motherland Bulgaria, Karadayi said.
Our Movement’s honorary chairman Mr. Ahmed Dogan is special to all of us, the MRF members and supporters, and to the whole of Bulgaria. With the fall of the communist regime, Mr. Dogan was among the first to tells us which was the right path for our country – achieve democracy and solve interethnic problems the right way. In one of our hands, he placed the ballot paper, and in the other – the national flag of Bulgaria. And we said NO to retaliation, YES to democracy, NO to hostility, NO to hatred, YES to freedom. By doing so, we have built the world renowned Bulgarian ethnic model - a paradigm, based on togetherness, for solving interethnic problems, Mustafa Karadayi said. "Let all diverse peoples come together, and each defend their identity. And if necessary, let us help others protect their identity, while still sticking out as one and building our common future together, in our homeland Bulgaria," Karadayi said.
We will proclaim our course to early parliamentary elections, when we see that the country is ready for a worthy, reliable, resolute Euro-Atlantic government. It will be a government that will take care of people's problems and help businesses overcome their difficulties in the current moment of crisis, Mustafa Karadayi said.
Let us all together and united walk the path of democracy, all together and united solve people's problems, all together and united build our common future in our native country Bulgaria, the MRF leader said.
