In these arduous times, Bulgaria needs a worthy, reliable, resolute Euro-Atlantic and stable government with a clear goal - food and energy security, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Mustafa Karadayi told the annual meeting in the Demir Baba Teke historical site. On May 21, the MRF marked the 33rd anniversary of the so-called “May events” (marking the struggle of Bulgarian Turks against the communist regime’s decision to change their names and identity in 1989). This year the commemorations were under the slogan of "Peace in the Motherland, peace in the world".
We went on peaceful protests 33 years ago. They speeded the fall of the communist regime and helped us restore our names, our right to religion, culture, and traditions. This way we brought freedom and democracy to our motherland Bulgaria, Karadayi told the thousands of people attending the event.
We are more anxious today, as we see our neighbor’s house on fire. Against such a background, we have a government that, instead of solving people's problems and fighting crises, itself generates problems and new crises, Karadayi said. "For this reason, we are on our posts, as we have been for 33 years, to protect the entirety of our country, to safeguard peace, to be patrons of the citizen welfare, and of our country’s stability," the MRF leader said.
Bold moves are required these days. If a government is damaging this country, it must not speak of political stability. It must resign and allow the setting up of a Euro-Atlantic virtues-based majority in our country that will lead to the forming of a strong and univocal authority, Mustafa Karadayi said.
Time is calling us. In these uneasy and disastrous moments, we need stability and focus, there must be a clear target for development. Today, we see crises discussed by Europe and the world, crises we have been foretelling since 2016. Now, Europe speaks about food and energy security, and delivering solutions through green economy and energy independence. Back in 2016, the MRF first declared the clean and green economy, clean air, clean food, clean water, and clean energy as priorities for this country,” Karadayi said.
