Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Mustafa Karadayi had some substantial meetings, discussing the protection of human rights and liberties, at the 22nd Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum in Bucharest. Karadayi and MRF deputy chairman Stanislav Anastassov are taking part in the top-level international event dedicated to global security.
The Forum is chaired by congressman Robert Pittenger, a former member of the US House of Representatives, and hosted by the prime minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciuca.
The state of religious and civil rights and freedoms was discussed by Mustafa Karadayi and Nury Turkel, chairman of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom. Turkel is also a life member of the world-renowned Council on Foreign Relations. He and Karadayi focused their attention also on reviewing the rights and freedoms of the Uyghur community in China.
Turkel is an attorney, foreign policy expert, and rights advocate with nearly two decades of experience working in the intersection of law, business, government, and the human rights community. In 2020, he was in TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World list, and in 2021, he was listed as one of Fortune’s 50 Greatest Leaders.
Mustafa Karadayi and Stanislav Anastassov met also with Rushan Abbas, a Uyghur activist. Currently residing in the US state of Virginia, Abbas is the founder, executive director and driving force behind Campaign for Uyghurs - an international movement defending the rights of the Uyghur community in China. The topic of the meeting focused exactly on the current state of the rights and freedoms of the oppressed ethnic group.
On day two of the 22nd Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum, Mustafa Karadayi and Stanislav Anastassov attended a panel discussion on cyber risks, 5G and tech threats, where the speakers were consultants and computer security experts from Europe and America.
Human trafficking and terrorism were also among the topics deliberated at the Forum.
The third and final day of the Forum in Bucharest began with a Prayer Breakfast for peace in Ukraine and around the world, with attendees unified by the appeal for peace and prosperity for all people. Envoys from Ukraine shared their experience with horrors of the war and their conviction that justice and universal human virtues will triumph.
The 22nd Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum also examined the issues of energy independence, transportation security, illicit finance, illicit trade, and money laundering. The participants talked about diversification of energy sources and supplies, including new technological opportunities to generate power.
